Event description

Description

Follow five women as they explore the emotions and experiences in dealing with everyday sexism. Seashells, by Samantha Raymond and Raymond Dance Company, will shine a light on the commonplace of sexist actions and comments in every woman’s life. As was seen with the #metoo social media campaign, every woman, from any age or background, has at least one story to tell about feeling unequal, unsafe, unsure, unconfident or unjustified in speaking up, simply because they are female. Although a reality for many women, these are not stories of violent, abusive or obvious violations. These are stories about the small and seemingly insignificant subtleties engrained in our culture that make women feel unsafe to walk home at night. With sexual assault allegations taking over headlines in recent news, this topic is being pushed into the spotlight, and these stories and experiences are not going to be tolerated or hushed up any longer.
