Workshop Description:

The beauty and mystery of the ocean, fills our lives with wonders, vast beyond our imagination.

During this fun beginner friendly workshop you will learn the beautiful craft of wet felting. This project is relaxing and not overly difficult, therefore you can expect a relaxing afternoon of crafting in our friendly studio.

You will be provided with step-by-step instructions, as you are gently guided through the steps to making a sensational seaside inspired wall hanging.

With the use of wool roving, water and soap you will learn how to bind fibers together and build layers of color to create a beautiful ocean inspired scene. Following this we will attach our "felted pictures" to sticks with a tied hoop at the top for the purpose of easy displaying/hanging.

Wet felting is a timeless craft that has been around for centuries, due the endless possibilities of what you can make through this marvelous process.

All of the supplies is provided for this workshop, however please bring a towel with you (any size) - thank you! We will provide you with a plastic bag to easily transport your wet towel home.

Instructor Bio:

Alan Pippy is a Nova Scotian Artist and Co-founder of Sparkles n' Sawdust Studio. He has enjoyed drawing and mixed media art since an early age. In his younger years he enjoyed blacksmithing, sculpture, drawing and still life painting. His most recent passions includes: woodworking and meditative arts.​

Alan is friendly, soft spoken and enjoys sharing his love for art with others. He believes that there is an artist hidden inside of all us and that having an open mind is the key to tapping into your creative self.​

As an eco-conscious individual, Alan is passionate about educating others about the importance of reducing our carbon footprint through sustainable living. His much-loved eco craft classes (felted dryer balls & beeswax wraps) are a few of the many things Sparkles n' Sawdust Studio has become well known for.

Policies:

COVID-19 Policies | Updated July 2022

• Masks are not mandatory, however strongly recommended
• All staff members will continue to wear masks when not behind plexiglass
• Plexiglass cubicles are provided for each individual participant
• "Bubble Duo" Ticket is available in limited quantities for those who want to sit at a private table with their partner, family member or friend. This includes a $5 discount. For group bookings, please get in touch by email: info@sparklesnsawdust.com and we are happy to accommodate seating, if space is available.
• Our Stay Home Policy remains in-effect (please see below for details)
• Wall mounted hand sanitizer will be available indefinitely for customer use
• Reduced class sizes (max. 10 participants per workshop & 6 for yoga classes)​
• We have air conditioning, with an air purifier for the warmer seasons
• Supplies will continue to be divided up in advance to allow for contactless events

Stay Home Policy: If you are unable to attend due to illness, recent exposure or self isolation please get in touch with us by email prior to the event and we will issue a credit note with a 3 month expiration date. Please note that tickets are non-refundable and all sales are final. No compensation will be provided for anyone who contacts the studio after the event has started or for no shows.

Registration Policy: Online registration is required in advance, to attend any workshop at Sparkles n' Sawdust Studio. Walk-ins are not permitted nor is same-day registration - sorry! Workshop registration closes at promptly 11:59 PM the evening before any scheduled event (*some exceptions may apply) We highly recommend early registration to not only help us prepare, but to also reserve your spot because workshops often sell out in-advance.

Cancellation Policy: Sparkles n' Sawdust Studio reserves the right to cancel a class if our minimum enrollment is not met. In this rare circumstance, you can expect to receive an email notification at a minimum of 24 hours in advance. A credit note or class transfer will be issued, with no expiration date. Please check your junk mail or "other" folder. just incase. Please note that if a workshop is cancelled the studio will be closed that day and therefore we will not be available to accept telephone calls or return voice mails. Refund Policy: Due to our studio offering small and personalized workshops, we are no longer able to offer refunds or class credits for missed workshops. However, what we do provide for our guests is an unforgettable experience! *Please read our covid-19 policy above for exceptions - thank you!
