Description

This one day summit provides an opportunity for the Canadian compostables industry and interested partners to engage in dialogue to:

- increase awareness of the role of compostable products and packaging in development of economic and environmental opportunity in Canada;
- highlight activities that are taking place elsewhere in the world, especially in Europe; and
- encourage governments to facilitate the adoption of compostable product and packaging technologies in Canada.

Agenda

Each session includes 20 - 40 minutes of opening remarks / presentation from a "thought leader"* followed by a round table discussion of the topic during which all Summit participants will be encouraged to ask questions and present additional information on the topic.

John Jackson, a lecturer on waste management at the University of Waterloo, has worked with citizens' groups on environmental contamination, waste management, water quantity & quality issues, and citizen involvement & decision‑making issues for the past 30 years.

Hotel accommodation

The Compost Council of Canada Conference is being held 25 - 27 September 2019 at the Holiday Inn Guelph Hotel and Conference Centre which is an 8 minute drive from Innovation Guerlph, the location of the Compostables Summit. It is recommended that Summit guests stay at the Holiday Inn Guelph Hotel and Conference Center. Information and registration details are at http://www.higuelph.ca/ Driving information from the Toronto airport is provided on the hotel website. Compostables Canada recommends taking the UP train from Toronto International Airport to Toronto Union Station from where VIA Rail and GO trains depart for Guelph at 10:55, 15:35, 17:40; 18:00, and 18:50. Cabs are available from the Guelph train station to the Holiday Inn.
