SECRETS OF CREATIVITY IN LIFE AND ART
a poetry workshop with the Ryga Festival's Resident Writer

Take a trip with poet and novelist Patricia Keeney; discover how the creative act of poetry can change your life and how your life can make poetry happen in this special workshop.

A professor of Creative Writing at Toronto’s York University and the author of more than a dozen collections of poetry and two novels, Keeney notes:
We are constantly reinventing ourselves. Time changes us. The world changes us… Each of these moments brings new ideas, new emotions and new ways of seeing ourselves… Finding the best way to articulate what we discover is what this workshop - intended for all ages - is about. ”

Patricia Keeney is a widely published Canadian poet, novelist and critic with translations of her work published in France, Mexico, China, Bulgaria, South Africa and India among others.

Her two latest books, published in the fall of 2017 are Orpheus in Our World, new poems on timeless forces inspired by the ancient Orphic hymns and accompanied by contemporary dialogue and her novel, One Man Dancing, a high octane international adventure of artistic integrity and survival under the murderous regime of Idi Amin.

In addition to her creative work, she is also a Professor of English and Creative Writing at York University in Toronto where she offers courses on Canadian Literature, Women in Literature and related subjects and conducts regular workshops in poetry and mixed genre writing. She makes her home in a 150-year-old log house an hour north of Toronto.
