Meet the Speakers:

Robin Buntain, Vice President, Avison Young
Robin Buntain began his commercial real estate career at Avison Young after completing the Marketing Management – Professional Real Estate program at British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Robin’s background and experience in real estate marketing and finance has equipped him with the skill-sets required to provide exceptional advisory services to organizations throughout Metro Vancouver with emphasis on tenant representation, sublease disposition and property sales & acquisition.

Jason Mah, Principal, Avison Young
Jason Mah began his career in the real estate industry in 2005 with Colliers International. In his first year in brokerage, Jason was awarded Rookie of the Year for Top Production in Canada amongst his peers. In 2011, Jason joined Avison Young and with a focus on significant transactions including tenant and landlord representation, investment sales, and real estate strategy. In 2014, Jason became a Partner based on his top production levels, dedication to his clients and the Avison Young platform. In 2015, Jason earned the Top Producer award for his office.
Jason has worked with institutional and private vendors, institutional and private landlords and tenancies in various industries including software and tech-related firms, engineering firms, infrastructure firms, not-for-profit organizations and resource companies. Jason’s clients leverage his market knowledge, mitigation strategies, financial models and proactive strategic planning to ensure that they have the confidence to achieve the best possible real estate outcomes.
Robin and Jason will be talking about how to plan for growth in your office space, market trends, and what to look out for while hunting for a commercial office lease.

Carmen Tsang, Career Services Advisor, Lighthouse Labs
Carmen Tsang combines her recruitment experience and HR background as Lighthouse Lab's Career Services Advisor for Western Canada. She works with LHL alumni and hiring partners in Vancouver, Victoria and Calgary, and often plays a part in advising on both sides of the table.
As a former “headhunter”, Carmen has worked at three different recruitment agencies and has a proven track record in helping startups to global corporations in sourcing and securing junior to senior talent. Aside from recruitment, Carmen has worked in marketing and community manager roles. She also currently advises Mavrixx, a social enterprise in the mental health space on business and people ops.
Carmen will be talking about hiring planning and hiring best practices for startups.

Geoff Pedlow, Associate, Fasken Martineau
Geoff is an associate in the firm’s Technology and Securities Group. His practice focuses on the technology sector where he advises entrepreneurs, start-ups and venture-backed technology companies, from start-up through business organization, capital raising and exit.
Geoff provides strategic advice on corporate law and transactional matters including corporate finance, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, board governance, and corporate commercial matters in relation to information technology.
Geoff will be talking about legal considerations when it comes to hiring employees.
