About this event
While most of us are aware of the benefits of rest and self-care for our mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing, many of us don’t practice it. Whether it’s due to time constraints; cultural, political, educational, and family systems which taught us that prioritizing our needs is selfish, unproductive, hedonistic, or luxurious; or a sense of guilt associated with it, we often neglect taking care of ourselves until our body-mind complex goes into a panic mode.
However, self-care is a daily practice. It is a lifestyle. It is prevention rather than intervention.
Taking care of our needs not only benefits us but also everyone else around us. With daily practice, self-care can improve our awareness, presence, and ability to self-regulate. Therefore, it is also an act of service – taking care of ourselves means we can take care of others.
In this five-week class series, we will:
-Reconnect to our bodies through movement, observation, and awareness
-Learn to listen and honour our needs, rhythms, and cycles
-Explore views and assumptions about rest and self-care
-Cover tools and practices for mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing
-Design our self-care routine
-Learn how to modify our practice based on personal, daily, or seasonal changes
-Gain tips on how to integrate and maintain simple, incremental, and sustainable changes into our daily routine and habits
