Self-Harm and Suicidal Thoughts: Stories of Hope and Recovery
This conference aims to raise awareness of the interdisciplinary treatment approaches and resources for families and teenagers who have emotional distress, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
To share ideas, experiences, resources and innovative approaches to understand and identify self-harm or risk of self-harm and suicide in adolescents.
To teach families and youth techniques for appropriately managing emotions.
To connect families and youth with community resources.
To understand the risk factors of self-harm, with emphasis on the effects of social media.
To enable families to voice their needs and concerns in a forum where community service providers will be able to hear and act on unfulfilled family needs.
To increase understanding and reduce stigma surrounding self-harm and suicide.
