Seminar Outline:

This seminar will explain how Toronto’s; 4 water treatment plants; 18 water pumping stations; 510 kilometers of trunk watermains; 10 reservoirs; 4 storage tanks; 52,900 valves; and, 5,015 kilometers of distribution water mains all work together to get water from the lake to your tap.

 

Toronto Water every day treats; transmits; stores; and, distributes over 1 billion litres of potable water to all industrial; commercial; institutional; and, household water users in the City of Toronto. In addition, the drinking water requirements of a major portion of York Region is supplied by the City of Toronto. This presentation describes how the system works.

 

Speaker: Arthur Sinclair P.Eng. - Toronto Water

 

Arthur is a Civil Engineer with ten years of experience planning, designing, constructing and maintaining municipal sewer and water systems. He began his career as a hydraulic modeller then moved to design and contract administration of large diameter transmission watermains throughout Ontario. Currently, Arthur is managing the redevelopment of the City of Toronto’s hydraulic model of the potable water transmission system. Arthur is chair of the East Toronto Chapter of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and a Director of the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education. Arthur has bachelor’s degrees in civil and Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa.
