Description
(Note - this fundraiser will continue to December 1st or until the dollar goal has been reached.)
Help us send Morri-Lynn Buchanan to The World Conference on Dance Research.
Buchanan is a dance teacher in Richmond who made the decisionmany years ago to make her studio an inclusive one - providing not only dance classes, but the opportunity to perform and compete to all students. Choreography is designed around each students strengths instead of expecting them to fit into a routine containing elements they are unable to perform well. Despite this unique approach, her students have won awards and had routines qualify for world competitions.
Ten years ago, Buchanan took this a step further by welcoming special needs adults into her school, providing a safe class for them learn as well as opportunities to perform in the community and in the year end show. This was followed by offering the same opportunities for children with learning issues such as Autism, or unique physical challenges such as Cerebral Palsy.
Supporters would like to assist this very special dance instructor by raising funds so she can attend The World Dance Congress in Greece where the agenda is focused on Dance Therapy. All donations (less Eventbrite fees) will go towards funding this trip. It is by donation, so you can chose an amount that fits your budget.
