Description

This session is the final day of a 3 day certification program and reserved for regulated healthcare providers only! Upon completion professionals leave better prepared to confidently convey mental health symptoms and concerns to health care providers.

Seniors Mental Health is a 3-day evidence based, interactive curriculum open to all healthcare providers who support seniors. The focus is on increasing learners' knowledge and provides care strategies related to dementia, delirium, anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders and personality disorders. This course is recommended but not limited to the following healthcare providers Nurse; Personal Support Worker; Occurpational Therapist; Social Worker; Recreational Therapist.

Price includes: 1 day workshop, all related materials, continental breakfast and light refreshments during breaks.

  • 8:00 AM - Continential Breakfast Served

  • 8:30 AM - Course Starts

THE DAY WILL COVER:

1. Basic understanding of common geriatric screening tools for delirium, depression, alcohol use and cogitation.

2. Thorough reveiw of the North Simcoe Muskoka Specialized Geriatric -NSMSGS Antipsychotic Tool Kit, which includes common neuroleptics, their side effects and therapeutic doses for seniors.
