Who is SERENA?
It is an acronym for “service pour la regulation des natalités”. SERENA Canada was founded in 1955; SERENA Saskatchewan was born in 1974. SERENA is dedicated to helping couples enhance their marriage by providing couple-to-couple instruction in the Sympto-Thermal method of Natural Family Planning with a focus on achieving or postponing a pregnancy. This method is highly effective, natural, morally acceptable, inexpensive and free of health risks. Couple-to-couple teaching is our main activity but we also train and certify Teacher Couples to teach user couples, give group presentations (marriage preparation, high schools), teach fertility awareness to young women in a manner that is age appropriate, reach the community via our displays, help with chart interpretation, distribute resources regarding fertility, breastfeeding, menopause and infertility, and inform users and non-users via our website. We would like to raise visibility of NFP as an option that is safe and natural in a world where everyone is concerned about the effects of chemicals and hormones on women’s health.
