Event description

Description

Serenade will feature the Western Canadian premiere of composer Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo, a 50-minute masterwork written in seven languages and drawing from a broad spectrum of musical influences. Languages include liturgical Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Zulu, Spanish and Song of the Earth (untexted). Each movement is a combination of the language-group’s musical culture and the composer’s own musical style. The result is a stunning global celebration of joy as all the earth sings as one, “omnis terra jubilate”. To round out this concert, we will also perform Kim Andre Arnesen’s Flight Song, Dan Forrest’s You are the Music, and several other notable works.
