*Green Thumbs integrated programs offer toddlers to seniors opportunities to carry out the simple, age-old tasks of preparing soil, planting seeds and cultivating crops. The Green Thumbs model supplies a cluster of schools in Toronto’s downtown east-side with greenhouse and garden expertise as well as volunteer support to ensure hands-on experiences for everyone. In summer, we mobilize the community to join children and youth in the school gardens, growing and harvesting everything from amaranth to zucchini…and empower others to follow our example
