FAQ
Q: Should I bring my son/daughter to this session?
A: Since this session is built for parents specifically, we recommend that you do not invite your son/daughter. Instead, you can organize a meeting for them with one of our career coaches.
Q: At what age do you recommend that students start thinking about their careers?
A: In middle school and early years, students should learn that: 1) there are countless challenges, problems and opportunities for them to work on in the world; 2) they can make a unique contribution to the world and 3) the world needs them. In high school, students should explore the challenges they want to work on and what they need to learn to be able to do that. In college and beyond, students should know the companies working on these challenges, the people who work on them, and some exciting potential paths that they can take to start their career.
Q: How do I know if my student would prefer to work with a career coach, or explore careers on their own?
At SparkPath, we offer both 'self-serve' programs and accompanied coaching programs, to accommodate different learning styles. In our experience, some students intuitively know their preferred learning style and will be able to decide right away. For those who aren't sure, we recommend that they meet a career coach to find out if it is a good fit for them.
