Deidre McDade is a Senior Lawyer with the CALC.
Deirdre obtained an honours degree in political science and a law degree from Queens University. After working in private practice, she joined the clinic in 1999 as a staff lawyer and is now a Senior Lawyer. Deirdre is active in the movement to end violence against women. She manages a new CALC project to prevent and eliminate sexual harassment in the workplace. She supervises the clinic’s income security files.
Deirdre is engaged in a number of law reform and policy initiatives to ensure income equality. She is the eastern region representative on the Legal Clinic Steering Committee on Social Assistance and sits on the Ministry Relations committee which provides advocacy to the provincial government on social assistance issues. Deirdre is a founding member and current steering committee member of the Poverty Roundtable of Hastings and Prince Edward.
