Description

The Chancellor, President & Vice-Chancellor and the Senate of Simon Fraser University request the honour of your presence at Convocation Fall 2019.

OUTDOOR CEREMONY NOTICE
Convocation ceremonies are held outside. Please dress accordingly.


RESERVED SEATING
Seat tickets will not be issued. Guests with reserved seating should check in with the ushers in blue gowns at least 30 minutes before each ceremony. Seats that are not claimed by 20 minutes before the ceremony will be released to the general public.

HONORARY DEGREE RECIPIENTS

TIMOTHY CAULFIELD | Thursday, Oct. 10, 9:45 AM

The degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, will be conferred on Timothy Caulfield, a professor, holding the Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy at the University of Alberta. He is one of Canada’s best-known public intellectuals and a passionate advocate for evidence-based health policy.

ANDREAS DRACOPOULOS | Thursday, Oct. 10, 2:30 PM

The degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, will be conferred on Andreas Dracopoulos, the co-president of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation that has made grants totaling nearly $3 billion in 124 countries since 1996. He has been awarded the rank of the Grand Cross of the Order of Honor in Greece, and Officer of the Legion of Honor in France.

The degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, will be conferred on Lorne Trottier, an innovator, entrepreneur, philanthropist and, through the Trottier Foundation, a leading Canadian supporter of research and education in the sciences.

NADINE CARON | Friday, Oct. 11, 2:30 PM

The degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, will be conferred on Nadine Caron, who is Anishnawbe from Sagamok First Nation, a surgeon, associate professor, and internationally renowned health advocate who is passionate about improving health outcomes for Indigenous peoples.
