Description

Are you an outdoor enthusiast or someone who just wants to learn a few skills to enjoy the outdoors more? Then please join us at Shade's Mills Park. Through hands-on experience you will learn valuable outdoor skills. These sessions will cover three essential skills: outdoor tools, fishing techniques & equipment and backcountry backpacking & camping. The program has something for everyone; the beginners, the experts, and families. So plan on visiting us and make the most of your future outdoor adventures. Sign up for the series or a single skill session.

The series is presented by SAIL Outdoors Cambridge to provide you with the skills you need to enjoy the outdoors. SAIL Outdoors will be bringing a range of gear for you to try. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm to learn and a bag lunch.

Pre-registration is required. Sign up for the series or a single session. The cost is $20 per person or $50 for the three sessions. Admission fee to the park required, or free for our Grand River Parks Membership holders. Children must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by an adult. Children over the age 14 are welcome to attend on their own.

If you've ever wanted to explore the natural world with nothing, but the gear on your back and your own two feet then this is the workshop for you. If you are looking for the quintessential Canadian wilderness experience, backcountry camping is for you. We will explore practices of the Leave No Traces movement. We will explore the types of gear to set-up camp, tips on how to manage curious or hungry wildlife and what to pack to be comfortable in the wilderness. We will also cover what to pack for canoe trips. Join us at the Toyota Amphitheatre in Shade’s Mills and get prepared to spend time in the backcountry.
