CATAAlliance Teleforum Conference Call series on Shared Services Canada (SSC)

Register Today for Updates & Q&A (Friday, May 24th at 10:45 am EST)

Our Shared Services Canada (SSC) Forum was created for executives to access briefing materials, share information and provide guidance on matters relating to the mission, mandate and operations of Shared Services Canada (SSC).

The SSC Forum is a subgroup of CATAAlliance, and now comprises some 1500 members from across Canada, representing both small and large enterprises, as well as thought leaders from the public and private sectors. It is a rich peer group resource in its own right.

As part of utilizing this resource, we schedule regular Teleforum Conference calls to facilitate the sharing of members’ collective insights and research in areas of government restructuring and procurement. We also reach out to global thought leaders for insights and guidance.

Please join a group of your colleagues on May 24th at 10:45 am EST for our next Teleforum Conference Call. Moderated by CATA CEO, John Reid, and CATA Forum Lead, John Cousens, the Call will feature as our keynote, Nicola Westmore, Deputy Programme Director - G-Cloud, Efficiency and Reform Group, Cabinet Office (U.K).

Through an interview format, Ms. Westmore, joined by other Forum experts, will engage us in information sharing, and updates relating to the mission and mandate of Shared Services Canada and related Ministries.

Public Cloud First or G-Cloud

The theme of the Teleforum is the benefits and opportunities of  G-Cloud or Public Cloud First, a recognized best practice path to government modernization.

What can we learn from the U.K. experience and then to apply to Shared Services Canada’s frameworks?

Our keynote will discuss the background and driving forces for the adoption of G-Cloud that went live in February 2012, and has achieved:

•          an innovative and streamlined procurement process, to make buying easier

•          launch of the CloudStore with a transparent and competitive marketplace, which now  offers over 3,200 cloud services

•          more than £4m in sales to the end of December; with over 60% of this going to SMEs

•          Pan-Government Accreditation of 25 services with many more in the pipeline

•          providing a greater choice and flexibility to buyers and helping them obtain value-for-money services

•          a model for success for other procurement frameworks to follow to make it easier for ICT suppliers – particularly SMEs – to do business with Government through a more efficient and simpler procurement.

Ms. Westmore will then turn to steps currently underway to strengthen representation on the framework in areas such as:

•          Identity services

•          Service integration and service management

•          Software support

•          Business Process Automation

•          Improved ITT application process and revised terms and conditions

Prior to the call please review select background notes for context found at:

The Teleforum Conference Call (of particular interest to companies currently selling or planning to sell goods and services to the federal government and public sector officials at all levels of government looking at modernization options and methodologies) is a uniquely interactive meeting of invitation-only executives who will also be invited to related venues to extend the information sharing, access to briefing material and encourage peer exchanges.
