Targeted to small-to-medium sized London, Ontario business operators/managers. Priority sectors include Digital Creative, Professional Services, Manufacturing, Food Processing, and Health and Life Sciences.

William (Bill) Boyce

Business Consultant

Bill Boyce has over 35 years of successful leadership experience with 3M Company, a $32billion diversified multi-national corporation. Retiring in 2017, Bill was a member of the 3M Canada Executive Management Operation Committee for 13 years, reporting directly the president. At retirement he was Executive Director, Safety & Graphics Business Group, leading an organization of over 150 sales and marketing professionals.

Over his career at 3M Bill had multi-discipline experience, working in Finance, Corporate Marketing Research, Logistics, Six Sigma, National Sales and Marketing management and executive leadership. In addition, he worked in a wide variety of industries including healthcare, automotive, industrial, oil and gas and consumer goods.

Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Economics, from Western University as well as a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Windsor.

Currently, Bill is serving on non-for-profit boards including London Chamber of Commerce and Western Fair District. He teaches at Fanshawe College in the areas of macroeconomics and global marketing strategy. Additionally, Bill has been consulting to small businesses as they develop operational and longer-term strategic plans.

Over his career Bill has led teams to success by being keenly aware of market trends and by designing business models that are aligned with market changes. Both results-oriented and customer-focused, Bill believes in structured business planning and disciplined implementation that evolves around the needs of the customer and engages employees.

Karen Hanes

Open Window Leadership

Karen Hanes has over 30 years of business leadership experience in the private and public sectors, as well as experience as a board member in the not-for-profit sector. Since 2011 she has been a certified professional coach and the principal of Open Window Leadership, a company which focuses on leadership development, executive coaching and organizational development.

Karen has worked in a variety of industries including technology, manufacturing, printing, commercial and consumer. She has held senior positions in sales, marketing, and general business management for some of the world’s most respected corporations including General Electric and 3M, where she led a Canadian division to growth and profitability. Karen was a member of the executive team at a high-growth Canadian technology company as Director of VAR Sales and Marketing. She also has experience in the public sector, working in an economic development agency as Senior Business Development Manager where she built partnerships and engaged with stakeholders from all levels of government, as well as private and public organizations.

At Open Window Leadership, Karen’s clients are owners and C-suite managers from private industry. As well, she has been retained by public sector, not-for-profit, and government organizations for one-on-one executive coaching, group facilitation and broader project work. She has worked with her clients to execute leadership assessments, and design and implement development plans to enhance the leadership skills and capabilities of individuals and teams. Karen also leads executive development workshops and retreats, and facilitates foundational leadership development programs for emerging leaders.

For over 30 years, Karen has led individuals and teams to success through the combination of professional coaching skills and business acumen. By listening, promoting and supporting the ideas and opinions of others, and by building clarity and purpose for each person, Karen is able to build her clients’ self-awareness and lead them to personal and business success. Her strength is in building trusting relationships with her clients as she holds a safe place for them to explore, learn and grow.
