Description

This is an advanced workshop for already existing short-term accommodation hosts in the Hastings County community. In this workshop you will learn how to increase your occupancy, better manage your time, improve your ratings and bring your listings to the highest possible standard.

There are two dates available for this workshop;

  1. Monday, May 13 from 10am-3pm at the Madoc Public Library in Madoc, ON.
  2. Tuesday, May 14 from 10am-3pm at the Community Futures Development Corporation in Bancroft, ON.

The main objectives of this workshop are to help participants who already have a short-term accommodation listing:

  • Bring their STA to a higher level
  • Increase occupancy and improve ratings
  • Optimize their STA and offer a wider range of services
  • Improve their time management in regards to their listings
  • Understand and practice “Responsible Renting”
  • Identify and create goals for their STA businesses
  • Create a business plan and budget
  • Review financial management of their STA

Who should attend this workshop?

This advanced workshop will be extremely useful to many already existing short-term accommodation hosts and Bed & Breakfast owners, in the Hastings County community who have experience with such booking platforms as Airbnb and are not seeing the results or ratings that they would like to. They would like to increase their occupancy while at the same time better manage their listing and their time, improve their ratings and bring their listing to the highest possible standard.


Workshop Facilitators:

Jessica Long, Hospitality & Tourism Consultant (Madoc session)
Jessica Long brings to the table over 20 years of active experience working in Hospitality and Tourism, including managing a Boutique Hotel in the tropics and as property manager and host of numerous short-term rental properties ranging from high-end villas to small B&B's in Costa Rica and Italy. She has coached numerous individuals and small businesses in how to set-up and make the most of their Airbnb properties and Experiences. Along with the practical set-up, much of her coaching focuses on creating the best possible Guest experience to encourage excellent reviews, returning guests and positive community image and growth.

Christine FitzSimons, Owner/Host (Bancroft session)
Christine FitzSimons has spent her working life as a Producer/Director at CTV News in Toronto, Gallery Owner of Rural Roots Canadian Crafts in Coe Hill and most recently as a Municipal Government Chief Administrative Officer in rural Eastern Ontario. She is now enjoying a more relaxed life as an Airbnb Host at Riverside Suite, artist, gardener & cook, in Bancroft, Ontario. She has been an Airbnb Host since June of 2017 and is now presenting work­shops to share her experiences with others who want to start up a home sharing enterprise.
