About this Event

There are TWO LOCATIONS for this workshop:

  • Tuesday, March 3 - Club 580 in Bancroft (168 Hastings St N) from 5-9pm
  • Wednesday, March 4 - Madoc Public Library in Madoc (20 Davidson St) from 1 - 4pm

The main objectives of this workshop are to help Participants who already have an Airbnb:

• Understand and practice “Responsible Renting”

• Bring their STA to a higher level

• Increase occupancy and improve ratings

• Optimize their STA and offer a wider range of services

• Improve their time management in regards to their listings

• Identify and create goals for their STA businesses

This workshop provides participants with practical and effective techniques immediately applicable in a variety of contexts to demystify the process and teach them the ease, tricks and simple processes to open their own spaces to potential guests and create a second income.

The registration fee is $15 (includes taxes) and there are 10 spaces available for participants. There will also be a light meal and snacks included in your registration fee for this workshop.

Faciltators:

Jessica Long, Hospitality & Tourism Consultant

Jessica Long brings to the table over 20 years of active experience working in Hospitality and Tourism, including managing a Boutique Hotel in the tropics and as property manager and host of numerous short-term rental properties ranging from high-end villas to small B&B's in Costa Rica and Italy. She has coached numerous individuals and small businesses in how to set-up and make the most of their Airbnb properties and Experiences. Along with the practical set-up, much of her coaching focuses on creating the best possible Guest experience to encourage excellent reviews, returning guests and positive community image and growth.

Christine FitzSimons, Owner/Host

Christine FitzSimons has spent her working life as a Producer/Director at CTV News in Toronto, Gallery Owner of Rural Roots Canadian Crafts in Coe Hill and most recently as a Municipal Government Chief Administrative Officer in rural Eastern Ontario. She is now enjoying a more relaxed life as an Airbnb Host at Riverside Suite, artist, gardener & cook, in Bancroft, Ontario. She has been an Airbnb Host since June of 2017 and is now presenting work¬shops to share her experiences with others who want to start up a home sharing enterprise.

Mark Hanley, Small Business Coordinator, Hastings County

Mark Hanley is the Small Business Coordinator for Hastings County. He assists people starting new ventures as well as those experiencing challenges in existing businesses. He provides these services to a large geographic area, covering all 14 member municipalities in our county. Mark brings to this role a wealth of entrepreneurship experience, having started and grown many of his own successful businesses and has assisted hundreds of business owners in his previous roles of small business advisor, college instructor, angel investor and enterprise facilitator.
