About this event

PLAYING IN PERSON AT THE HUB THIS JANUARY

THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN

Running Time: 1hr 54m / Year: 2022/ Production: IRE/ Rated 14A

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, this multi-award winning dark comedy follows lifelong friends Padraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an end to their friendship. A stunned Padraic, aided by his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavours to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer which leads to unexpected consequences.. Don't miss seeing this masterfully made, beautifully cinematic film on a big screen! **Note: This film depicts some violence and self harm.

Running Time: 1hrs 22m / Year: 2022/ Production: Canada,Malta/ In English with the exception of the first few minutes in Maltese / Rated G

Director: Valerie Buhagiar

There is a fable-like quality to this film, which takes place in a small mediterranean village . The Maltese countryside sparkles in the sunlight, and McElhone delights with a charming and slightly loopy performance as Carmen, a woman who has spent her life housekeeping for her brother, the local priest. When things suddenly change Carmen begins to see the world, and herself, in a new light. A perfect film to bring some sun into your life at this time of year!

HOW TO WATCH:

ONLINE: Purchase your one-time ticket OR membership (with membership all subsequent films are free until end May 2023) through Eventbrite. Watch for your viewing instructions in your email inbox.

FURTHER FAQS (Film Apropos Questions Silly!)

MEMBERSHIP 2022/23: The Film Club membership year starts in June of each year so there's still plenty of time to join in! (From June 2022 - end May 2023).

The HUB Film Club screens films (online and/or in-person) on the 4th Friday of each month from Criterion Pictures Canada.

We are happy to announce that we will be able to continue showing films in-person (covid protocols permitting) AND online for this new 2022/23 Film Club year which begins this past June and continues through May 2023. We hope that this will meet each person's comfort level while continuing to raise funds for the HUB and bringing good films to the valley!

The Club Concession with popcorn and treats will be open for those coming in person! We also have a real I-talian espresso machine serving local Drumroaster coffee.

See you at the movies!
