The SickKids-GMCA 2017 miniMBA program registration is now open! This 8-lecture program, jointly offered by the Research Training Centre and the University of Toronto Graduate Management Consulting Association, will provide graduate students, postdocs, and research associates who work in a SickKids lab with:
- A grounding in fundamental business concepts
- The opportunity to learn from business experts
- The chance to apply this new knowledge to solving business cases
The lectures will be taught by industry professionals with diverse backgrounds. Each class will consist of one-hour lecture on a specific topic, a mini group case practice on the same topic, followed by a group presentation of the solution. The course will cover concepts from the popular “Ten Day MBA” book, by Steven Silbiger.
The SickKids miniMBA classes will be held each Thursday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m beginning on June 1 and ending on July 20. Please register for all 8 classes when you submit your registration.
You'll need to purchase or borrow a copy of the course book, Ten Day MBA by Steven Silbiger.
You will be asked to provide a copy of your resume and answer two questions as part of the registration process. Should the miniMBA course fill quickly and run into a waiting list, registration will become competitive. If registration becomes competitive, you will receive a registration confirmation or request to reapply to the next miniMBA by April 30, 2017. This course is open only to registrants who are currently a SickKids graduate student, research fellow, clinical research fellow, or research associate.
Please note that we expect the course to fill up quickly. You must be able to commit to attending all 8 weeks of the course in order to reserve a spot, and must attend all 8 classes (unavoidable and reasonable absences excepted) in order to qualify for the course certificate.
