The Adventures of Being Blind in a Social Distance World

About this event

We all remember the day when the world shut down. Everything changed, and everyone had to learn how to live according to a new set of “rules” including mask wearing, following arrows on the floor in the grocery store, and most importantly: no touching. But what if you were totally blind? For a person who is used to exploring the world with their hands, the pandemic presented a whole new set of challenges. Will touching things while navigating make you sick? What do plexiglass and masks do to your sense of where people are? How do you social distance when blind? And most frightening of all, what if having a disability might mean you have lower priority for treatment and care? Journey with storyteller Kim Kilpatrick as she attempts to navigate the world while eagerly awaiting her next Guide Dog.
