Silkscreen Basics - Subscriber Exclusive

About this Event
Create your own collection of upcycled silkscreened t shirts. Bring a few old favourite (blank) t-shirts, or pick one up from the thrift store. Participants can bring up to 5 items to silkscreen. Items must be at least 50% cotton.
COVID-19 Workshop policies and protocols:
All attendees will be required to wear a mask for the duration of the event. Due to the potential for closer physical proximity, exemptions cannot be made at this time. Those with a medical exemption can attend a virtual version of this event, which will be announced at a later date.
All participants will use dedicated equipment, and workstations will be sanitized before and after the workshop.
Class size is limited to 4 participants to maximize physical distancing.
We are continuing to monitor the situation, and if we are unable to conduct this workshop in-person, we will delivery project kits and participants will be instructed over Zoom.
Contact tracing information will be required. Anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked not to attend this event.
T shirts will not be provided for this class. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN T SHIRTS
In this workshop you will:
-Learn how to design and create a custom stencil that can be used for multiple prints on a screen on a single-transfer stencil -. Participants will be asked to send in a single-colour .png image so that their stencil can be made ahead of time. The instructor will provide an example with their email confirmation.
-Learn printing techniques for single-colour prints, and get to know the basics of other ways to create images for a silkscreen.
-Have the chance to practice printing techniques before printing your shirt.
-Print your own shirt (bring your own for the best fit!)
Tickets are offered on a sliding scale, please pay the price tier you are most financially comfortable with. $10-$20. Tickets available online only. Subsidized tickets available on request (PWYC). Please contact info@guelphtoollibrary.org to obtain a subsidized ticket.
