Event description

Description

Rejoice in the beauty of the human voice and the purity of a cappella gospel with these three fantastic groups:

Resound:

Resound’s origin story begins at a kitchen table, three good friends just cutting up and singing
something. Joseph started a line, Jessica stopped him and added a part and the three began arranging,
for the first time as a group, taking long past the dinner hour to finish the piece. Though they had sung
together in different groups for years – Joseph and Jessica’s harmonies go back to their childhood –
this moment marked a new evolution in collective collaboration. They recorded it, posted it on
Facebook, and received an unexpectedly strong response, that magical “people asking for more”
moment. So they gladly obliged.

And that’s what Resound has been doing ever since, building a reputation for intricate yet natural
arrangements, relying only on their own voices without a keyboard to guide them, arranging as three,
singing as one, developing a loyal fanbase. Catching the attention of gospel luminaries and pop stars,
from Fred Hammond and Donnie McClurkin to Ariana Grande and India.Arie, their casually recorded
selfie style videos have gone viral, landing them performances on Good Morning America, Late Night
with David Letterman, and some of the most prestigious stages across the U.S.

University of Toronto Gospel Choir

http://www.utgc.org/about-us

Founded in February 1995, the University of Toronto Gospel Choir was formed in celebration of Black History month. The Choir was initially created to unite students with a shared interest in praising the Lord through song. Soon, however, the weekly choir rehearsals became not only a meeting place, but also a refuge for those looking for a non-threatening and empowering environment. Over the years, the Choir has grown to include members from all races and Christian denominations and celebrates not only in the diversity of its members, but also its audiences.

Less than six weeks after its inception, UTGC had its first major performance at Toronto’s Hart House Theatre. The sold out concert also showcased some of the best college gospel choirs from the state of New York. Since that time, the powerhouse that is UTGC has burst onto the international scene, as well as continuing to serve the greater Toronto community in local concerts and university events held throughout the year. The Choir was provided with the unique experience of being the only Canadian choir to participate in Annual Gospel festivals in both, Stockholm, Sweden and Barbados, West Indies. In addition to these opportunities, in 2003 the Choir travelled to Tokyo, Japan where they participated in a gospel music festival, performed in local churches, and held their own concert for the mayor of Sagamihara. As UTGC continues to spread their ministry through song, they have been welcomed by groups in New York, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Germany.

The Chitans

A family of 5 children who are making a difference through their music and outreach. Here is some of their bio:

We are home schooled and are active in our community through volunteering in various community activities, such as, street ministry – feeding the homeless (including Nathan Phillips Square Project in Toronto for the past 3 years), visiting and ministering in hospitals, nursing homes, senior homes, community centers and prisons (including We Care Program in Alabama State Prisons). We also sing at religious, cultural and human rights gatherings throughout Canada, the U.S (including The White House and the U.S Congress on Capitol Hill) and in the Caribbean, including Bermuda. We’ve also sung to the Prime Ministers of Jamaica, Grenada, Bermuda and Canada.

We have been privileged to minister with Tiffany Campbell- Dailey, Bridget Blucher, The Collingsworth Family, Wintley Phipps, Bobby Jones on Bobby Jones Presents, Guy Penrod, Woody Wright, Lynda Randle and Russ Taff in Toronto and Bill Gaither and his Homecoming Friends in Windsor, Ontario.
We have also received the Congressional Award from the United States of America for volunteer work done on the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
