We all know that networking is one of the keys to personal and professional success but how do you go about doing it authentically and effectively?

Kara and Edmund are well known Toronto networkers. They are members of Flow Cap Advisory, a firm that specializes in teaching clients and customer facing executives the intricacies of soft skills and building authentic relationships.



After this workshop participants will walk away with:

  1. Tips on how to effectively and quickly connect with new people
  2. How to stay connected and deepen relationships with those in your network
  3. How to network in a way that helps with your social and professional advancement

About Edmund Chien

Edmund has 15 years experience advising high net worth investors in the areas of wealth management and business development. He’s been licensed as an Investment advisor in both private equity and with BMO Nesbitt Burns. In addition to those experiences, Ed has also been insurance licensed and has built a practice at Sun Life Financial in their career sales force.

In his time as a senior advisor, Edmund has also been a mentor and manager to junior advisors teaching them the importance of emotional intelligence and soft skills development.

Ed learned a lot of those principles through the Canadian Armed Forces Leadership school in CFB Petawawa and has close to 10 years experience in the Canadian Military, serving as a paratrooper, infanteer, combat medic, and boot camp instructor.

In addition to his military training, Ed holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ryerson Theatre School. It is through arts training that one learns the pinnacles of communication which is high-level soft skills and emotional intelligence training.

Today, Ed serves as the president of Asians Without Borders (AWB) which helps executives in the Asian community develop soft skills and gain leadership training.

Ed’s other charitable work includes serving on the committee of the ROM Young Patron’s Circle, advisory board of Full Circle Art Therapy, mentoring military veterans transitioning into the workforce, and supporting veteran organizations such as Canada Company, True Patriot Love, and Treble Victor.

About Kara Granger

Kara is a native of Vancouver, British Columba and came to Toronto as a young entrepreneur in 2013. Since then she has launched two clothing lines, a beauty product business, and wrote a business book on the foundations of good corporate practices.

Kara represents a growing wave of millennial entrepreneurs and business leaders of today and CEO’s tomorrow. She brings her expertise in the nuances of starting up a business and taking a product from a concept all the way to sourcing foreign manufacturers and delivery.

Her time abroad in Asia not only includes working with manufacturers but she also advises and connects globally minded real estate developers.

In addition to her life experiences, her educational background provides a strong foundation into entrepreneurship. As a proponent of continuous education and personal development, her training includes brand management, entrepreneurship, and foreign language in Mandarin.

Her charitable work includes starting and running her own charity, The Karebear Community. The Karebear Community hosts an annual charity fundraising event to raise money for local Toronto shelters as well as raising international awareness on the plight of children by volunteering in orphanages in impoverished nations.

As an associate consultant to Flow Cap Advisory, Kara provides the insight into ambitious and successful millennials as well as female business owners.
