Site 3 Laser Training
Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (EDT)
Want to use our laser? This is the required training class!
This class will cover the steps for using the laser, from creating an image in the proper format to correct and safe operation of the laser itself. Participants will etch their own class completion certificates, which we'll keep at Site 3 as the way to know who is allowed to use the laser, and will get to do a cut/etch job of their own design to take home.
The laser is a 60W CO2 infrared laser, capable of cutting paper, leather, acrylic, wood, and similar materials. It can also do etching on metal and glass. The laser table size is 600x400mm, and we have a rotary attachment for cylindrical objects.
Please bring a laptop and a USB drive to use. If you have preferred graphics software such as Illustrator or CorelDraw, have that preloaded. Inkscape is an open-source alternative which we'll use by default; this can be installed during the class, or you can download it from inkscape.org and pre-load it.
If at ALL possible, please have an image you would like to laser, including your name, pre-loaded so that we can spend the majority of the class working on how to get that image out of the laser itself.
