Event description

Description

The Somatic Practice of Pure Awareness allows us to discover the stillness within. Using building blocks from the Meditating with the Body curriculum, the practice guides us into a deeper relationship with the truth of the soma - a truth that, through this practice, reveals our inherent capacity to be present to the body and all it offers.

In lives often marked by movement and distraction, this discovery brings the possibility of profound transformation. As we develop our ability to rest in the body, we are able to relax in a deep and satisfying way. We begin to genuinely trust our lives and, in doing so, begin to receive and follow the guidance that always waits for us.

On October 20 & 21, two days of guided meditation and group discussion with Dharma Ocean Senior Teacher Neil McKinley will be offered in Vancouver. This is a all-level, all-tradition workshop - providing a wonderful opportunity to deepen our practice together.

We will meet each day from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm each day, with a 90 minute midday break for lunch, a walk in the neighbourhood or just relaxing.

Participants are advised to wear warm, comfortable clothing, and to bring a blanket and mat to lay on. Should participants have a meditation cushion or bench, these are recommended – otherwise, chairs will be available.

About the Instructor:

Neil McKinlay is a Senior Teacher within the Dharma Ocean lineage. A longtime student of Reggie Ray, Neil draws from his training in the tradition of Chogyam Trungpa to emphasize the accessibility and relevance of meditation in the modern world. Seeing the spiritual journey as an inherent part of the human journey, his teaching style is immediate and personal, always affirming the dignity and wholeness of our lives as they are.
