Event Details

This is a hands on training course and computer work stations will be provided.

Prerequisite:  SketchUp Design for Film & TV: Fundamentals OR a solid working knowledge of SketchUp

This advanced course will build on the knowledge from the Fundamentals course and will introduce more advanced tools and techniques. Topics covered include Dynamic Components, Set Design in 3D, Importing images for Film Backdrops, Importing to Layout, Spheres, Intricate Objects, Follow Me, Adding locations/terrain from Google Maps and Advanced Camera Tools.  We will also discuss SketchUP rendering plugins (VRAY, SUPodium, etc.) and how to set up your models for rendering and/or exporting as a movie clip.

The afternoon will cover professional tips, plug-ins, and extensions. By the end of the course, participants will have created a full studio stage set ready for rendering and created elements for their personal Component Library.  If time permits we will discuss advanced capabilities such as Printing 3D objects, Modelling intricate objects, Quantity Takeoffs/Bill of Materials (BOM), Door & Window Schedules, and VR SketchUP Viewer/Augmented Reality.

Instructor: George Partridge

After graduating from Landscape Architecture, George began his career working at an Engineering Consultant firm creating CAD Drawings & SketchUP Models for the largest urban planning project in human history - a 30-year Community Design Plan for the holy cities of Saudi Arabia. Later, he began his film career working on Guillermo Del Toro's "The Strain" TV Series and has since designed sets and graphics on productions such as The Boys, ANNE, Jett, In Contempt, Shimmer Lake & more. His design work has been featured in major publications such as The Toronto Star. Now a Set Designer with the DGC George has over 15 years experience in SketchUP.

Is this event open to everyone?

No, this event is open to DGC Full and Associate Members currently in Good Standing and participants in the Guild Apprentice Program. You must have pre-paid and registered for this event through this page. There will be no payments taken at the door.

What is the refund policy?

If you notify the Training department within 48 hours of the event that you can no longer attend, you may request a refund for the course.
