Skill Building Workshop with Michael Becker (Food Educator Extraordinaire)
Sat, 8 Apr 2017, 9:00 AM – Sun, 9 Apr 2017, 4:00 PM MDT
On April 8 & 9th, teachers and educators are invited to join the Fields Forward Education group for 2 days of interactive learning. The intent is identify easy ways to start school gardens, deepen your environmental education, explore creative methods of teaching curriculum using local community resources. This is not new curriculum, but rather a means to work within, build connectivity and integrate your school’s existing framework.
Michael Becker a really amazing middle school teacher who has set up gardens and sustainability systems in Hood River Oregon so that everything is integrated into the curriculum that is taught there. There were so many kids that wanted to be in his class that they had to expand it for the whole school.
Fields Forward has asked him to come up and do a two-day professional development with teachers and edcuators.
It's worth it to watch this 20min video of his school systems in Hood River Oregon so you can see what a gifted presenter he is, as well as the quality of his work.
