Created by one of Norway’s leading choreographers, Sølvi Edvardsen, MAN is a mesmerizing work exploring the possibilities of scenic expression based on one dancer’s potential – the maximal in the minimal. The theme is the conscious individual’s unending exploration of personal reality and the limits and boarders that we either impose on ourselves or that are placed on us by different external systems and situations – something that is only amplified when one is bicultural.

Through seriousness and humour, award-winning dancer Sudesh Adhana uses only a small sitting stool as his partner to embody the struggles of a bicultural identity, while considering who is he? Where does he come from?

Presented in collaboration with Dance Victoria, the CODA Festival, and The National Touring Company.

New Works gratefully and respectfully acknowledges that this event takes place on the ancestral, and unceded Indigenous territories of the ʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations.
