About this event
The High Hazards Unit in Prevention Division at the Ministry of Labour, Training, Skills and Development (MLTSD) is organizing a Small Business Webinar on October 21, 2021 to coincide with Small Business Week (October 17 to 24, 2021).
The Small Business Webinar will be an educational and supportive session targeting small business owners and/or associations. The webinar will focus on the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing tools and resources to make occupational health and safety (OHS) easier for small businesses. The Prevention Division will also provide an opportunity for small businesses to ask questions about Prevention programs or tools.
Presentation topics will include:
- MLTSD’s Safety Plan Builder: MLTSD has launched a free online and interactive tool that will make it easier and faster for employers to create a plan to address the risks of exposures to workplace hazards, like COVID-19, in their workplace.
- Health and Safety Representative Program: Free occupational health and safety training for health and safety representatives in up to 60,000 small businesses, focused on helping to lower injury rates and improve health and safety awareness and practices in small businesses.
- Health and Safety Excellence program options for Small Businesses: A program offered by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board, where small businesses can earn a rebate and non-financial recognition as they build or improve their health and safety program.
- Q&As on Prevention topics and areas of interest: The Prevention Division will answer pre-submitted questions from small business owners/associations on existing programs, tools and resources that are offered by the Prevention Division. We encourage you to ask your questions through the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YZZYLQJ
To compliment the morning webinar, the Ministry’s small business specialist from the Occupational Health and Safety Branch will be conducting their monthly webinar event for small business owners and workers on October 21st. This portion of the afternoon will continue to keep a COVID-19 focus. We encourage participants to also register for this webinar as well: Keeping Ontario Safe- What you need to know about occupational health and safety and employment standards related to COVID-19.
