The SMART Team

  • The SMART Operational Assessments Program for Northern Ontario manufacturers provides funding of 50% of eligible costs up to $15,000 for various types of assessments, including but not limited to: productivity; process flow; quality (for example, ISO Certification); waste reduction; environmental impact (various green certifications); energy efficiency (production level); information systems; lean manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S principles; human resources / organizational analysis; health & safety; management systems; market analysis (aiming to expand existing or into new markets); and Industrial Technological Benefits (ITB) readiness (Defense Procurement). This program ends December 31, 2017.
  • The SMART Green Program provides two streams of funding for assessments and projects that support investments in technology and process improvements by manufacturers which will result in GHG emissions intensity reductions and/or avoidance through upgrades to process/production equipment, deliver energy efficiency, and lead to productivity improvements, which in turn lead to lower GHG emissions on per-production-unit basis. Applicants may be eligible for 100% funding of assessments to a maximum of $2,500 for a preliminary facility walk-through, and up to $15,000 for a detailed technical assessment or $30,000 for a detailed technical assessment requiring gas metering. Capital investments projects are eligible for up to $500,000 per facility per project, and a combined maximum of $1,500,000 for multi-facility projects / affiliated applicants.
