The Canadian Institute of Resources Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary invites you to the following free, online workshop:
Towards Net-Zero: Low Carbon and Clean Tech Innovations for Alberta’s Energy Transition
Dr. Rudiger Tscherning will share his research to date on low-carbon and clean tech innovations for Alberta and Canada’s transition to a Net-Zero Economy. In this interactive webinar presentation, Professor Tscherning will focus on exciting developments in Western Canadian lithium mining and critical and strategic mineral (CSM) production, and on the ongoing discussion related to small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs). Alberta’s role in becoming a supplier of clean hydrogen and low-carbon liquefied natural gas will also be examined. All of these developments will allow the Province to capitalize on what Professor Tscherning calls the “Alberta advantage”.
The workshop will conclude with a Q and A session for registered participants.
Dr. Rudiger Tscherning will be the presenter
Dr. Rudiger Tscherning , PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Calgary. Professor Tscherning researches and teaches in the areas of Canadian and international energy and natural resources law, infrastructure and construction law, and private international law. His activities are focused on clean energy, including renewables, hydrogen, liquefied natural gas, and nuclear law. His work also focuses on the construction of critical infrastructure and the transportation of energy and commodities. Professor Tscherning joined the Faculty of Law from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he obtained his PhD in law, and he is an LL.M. graduate of the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee, UK. Professor Tscherning was the founding director of a research center focusing on sustainable energy law and policy in the State of Qatar, and previously practiced as an energy and environmental law lawyer in London, UK.
