The Small Print:
What the heck is this? Snug Cove MusicFest (the “MusicFest”) is a community-based celebration of music for people of all ages and backgrounds. Our goal is to bring great bands to Bowen Island and connect our residents, as well as friends from neighbouring communities, all of whom can come together to enjoy the music, dance, sing along, reacquaint with old friends and make new ones, and generally be happy. The MusicFest is being brought to you by The Bowen Island Live Music Company, a not-for-profit corporation (the “Promotor”) and the Union SteamShip Co. Resort (the “Venue”). All people organizing the MusicFest are unpaid volunteers and 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales is used to pay the performers and out-of-pocket expenses that are necessary to put on the event.
Sales are Final/No Refunds. Great bands cost real money and in our view are worth every penny (and then some)! Therefore, other than in the case of the cancellation of the event by the Snug Cove Music Fest, there are no refunds or exchanges, rain or shine, and all ticket sales are final. No exchange or refund will be issued in the unlikely event a performer must be changed for reasons outside of our control. Changes to BC public health orders also will not entitle tickets buyers to exchanges or refunds. In the event we have to cancel the event, the MusicFest will of course provide refunds and will advise ticket holders about any procedures for obtaining a refund.
Youth & Kids Tickets/Policy. Everyone, regardless of age, requires a ticket to attend the MusicFest. Tickets for kids aged 12 and under are $15, and tickets for Youth aged 13 to 18 are $49.50 (i.e. half the price of a full price early bird ticket), inclusive of all taxes and fees. For clarity, it is the age of the attendee at the time of the show that counts, not when you bought your tickets. In all cases, minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 25 at the MusicFest gate (or they may be refused entry) and at all times while at the MusicFest. Misrepresenting someone’s age to try to save a buck is not cool. You may be asked to provide ID which lists date of birth in order to enter with a Youth/Kid Ticket. Failure to present ID when asked may result in denial of entry and there are no refunds. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that all minors aged 18 and under accompanying them comply with MusicFest rules and with instructions issued by MusicFest staff. Consuming and/or handling alcohol underage is strictly prohibited and will result in ejection without refund or replacement of tickets.
Parking/Transportation. Parking is extremely limited in Snug Cove, so please do what you can to avoid driving to the event. If you live or are staying on Bowen, please use public transportation to get to the MusicFest and the FunBus can take you home when the MusicFest is over. It's fun and it's free - please play it safe and take the FunBus home! If you are coming from the mainland, please consider taking public transportation to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal or, if you drive, please consider leaving your car in Horseshoe Bay. The last ferry off Bowen Island is at 10:50pm, so unless you have pre-arranged accommodations on Bowen, you should make your way to the Snug Cove Ferry Terminal (which is a short walk from the MusicFest grounds) right after the show. Get your band merch early and do NOT hang around after the last set if you plan to get back to the mainland - the Ferry waits for no one, and it won't wait for you.
Accomodations. Many of you who don't live on here may be looking for accommodations on Bowen Island to make a weekend out of it. Don't blame you one bit, it's nice here. That said, accommodations are extremely limited on Bowen. The Union SteamShip Resort (the host of the MusicFest) and Artisan Suites are completely full up, and have no more rooms for anyone on Friday or Saturday night. Contacting them directing will not change that reality. There are some air bnbs and vrbos on the island, and you may wish to check that out, but you don't already have accommodations secured, they may be very difficult to find. Outdoor camping is not permitted at or around the venue, nor is it permitted on any public land on Bowen. Accordingly, the safest approach might well be to simply plan on catching the ferry to Horseshoe Bay right after the show.
Food and Alcohol. There will be food available for purchase at the MusicFest. The MusicFest will also be licensed for those 19 and older (government issued ID required to be served alcohol).
In/Out. All attendees will be wrist-banded and will have in-and-out privileges throughout the day.
What to Bring/What Not To Bring. In an effort to keep trash at a minimum, please DO NOT bring bottled water. Please DO bring a reusable empty cup as there are water stations where you refill throughout the day. Blankets are fine, but you may not bring chairs (except as required - see below), tents, large beach umbrellas (or other items that would impair others' view of the bands) onto the MusicFest grounds. That said, if you physically require a chair, please bring it and let the MusicFest staff know at the gate - they will direct you to where you can comfortably enjoy the show while seated. As mentioned, the MusicFest is licensed for those 19 and older (government issued ID required to be served alcohol), so please leave alcoholic drinks and coolers at home – they are not permitted to be brought onto the MusicFest grounds. Also, no glass is permitted on the MusicFest grounds. We love dogs on Bowen, but the MusicFest is not the place for them - dogs will not be permitted on the MusicFest grounds.
Environmental Consciousness. Bowen Island is a beautiful place. Let’s all do our best to keep it that way. The Venue works really hard, including through its extensive use of solar power, to keep its grounds clean and green! In keeping with that, we are striving to make the MusicFest as waste-free as possible. Note there will be a limited number of garbage cans on the MusicFest grounds to encourage attendees to be mindful of their consumption and minimize what is left behind. Cleaning up after yourself is cool, littering and expecting others to clean up after you is not. We also strongly encourage a variety of environmentally friendly options for getting to the Festival. Please avoid driving to the MusicFest! Rather, take public transit, walk on to the ferry and take the FunBus home!
Covid-19 Precautions. The MusicFest will follow all government guidelines relating to Covid-19 in accordance with the Province of BC’s health orders in effect at the time of the event. Current government guidelines (which may change before the event) can be found here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/info/restrictions#pho-order
Accessibility. The MusicFest grounds entrance is wheelchair accessible.
You are responsible for yourself. You assume full responsibility and liability for your participation in and attendance at the MusicFest. This means you also assume all risks and dangers incidental to the MusicFest, including loss or damage to property, personal injury, exposure to and illness from infectious diseases (including but not limited to Covid-19), or death, and hereby forever release, discharge and indemnify the Promotor, the Venue, the MusicFest and their respective officers, directors, employees, organizers, volunteers, managers, members, shareholders, contractors, agents and representatives harmless from and against any claim arising from such risk, even if arising from the negligence of the Promotor, the Venue, the MusicFest, or their respective officers, directors, employees, organizers, volunteers, managers, members, shareholders, contractors, agents or representatives, or by third parties.
You consent to receive first aid. You consent to have medical treatment and/or transport that may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during the event. You release the Promotor, the Venue the MusicFest and all persons participating in any such medical treatment of all legal liability for any such actions.
Photography. You acknowledge that people are using video and photographic cameras at the event and that your image may be captured on video or in photographs, which may subsequently be displayed or disseminated without your consent or payment of compensation to you, and you release the Promotor, the Venue and the MusicFest from any legal liability for such filming, photographing or dissemination. You understand and accept that other than for personal use, images, film or video you obtain at the event may not be used without the prior written permission of the Promotor.
Privacy Policy. We're not in this for money (just a love of live music), so the MusicFest will always respect your privacy. Any personal information you provide to us including your name, address, telephone number and/or e-mail address will never be released, sold, or rented to any entities or individuals. The information we collect is used to send you the information you have requested. It could also be used to send you tickets, administer refunds in the event the event is cancelled by us, generally keep you informed about an upcoming event, warn you about new upcoming events or, after an event, to get your take on how we've done and what we could do better.
