12:00PM- UN Sustainable Development Goals and Business Workshop

In September 2015, the United Nations voted unanimously to adopt the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and called on all sectors of society – including business –to take action on the goals. In this highly interactive workshop, we will explore how local businesses can make tangible progress towards the 17 global goals by acting responsibly and finding opportunities for new products and services.

Time to pump it up with the Fitness Master! Entrepreneur life can be time consuming, but it’s important to always make time for proper stretches! Take a break and grab a mat to learn ongoing quick fitness routines that will keep your body healthy during your busy work weeks.

In this brisk presentation, HiVE drone and strategist James Boothroyd will introduce you to EcoAnalytics, a new, cooperative market research initiative that promises to boost the social impact of Canada's environmental movement. You will also get a peek at some of the salient, and surprising findings from two major recent national surveys--climate change and energy, water and conservation, toxics, species at risk, etc.--and have time for questions.

An interactive seminar providing financial and accounting information useful for start ups including: 1) Easy to use templates that you can take home 2) Control of your businesses financial future 3) Free wine and cheese 4) Ability to ask any questions you may have relating to finance/business

1:00PM- Deconstructing Artificial Intelligence

Hosted by: Arnie Bhadury

Flipboard’s Data Scientist will be facilitating a presentation and discussion on the following points:

1. What is Artificial Intelligence, and how can we use it?

2. Most of modern AI is data-driven known as Machine Learning — how many of the services in our daily life utilize it?

3. Methods Flipboard uses AI to tag documents, and create feeds.

4. Key points to be wary of as research in AI progresses


4:00PM- Social Impact for Animals: Building An Ethical Culture of Science

Hosted by: Dr. Elisabeth Ormandy

Through the work of Professor John P. Gluck (a former primate scientist turned vocal advocate for animal
protection, and now dear friend) Ormandy will argue that we need a paradigm shift in the way that science is taught, practiced and communicated – a shift that fosters a culture of respect for animals used in science. In
doing so, she will reflect on how the work of John and others has shaped her own work and led to the founding
of the Animals in Science Policy Institute. No graphic images will be used in this talk.

-Holistic Productivity Lunch & Learn

The Holistic Productivity approach acknowledges that humans are multi-faceted by nature and stipulates that the most effective approach to productivity involves looking at a person as a whole. Additionally, when you impact one area of your life in a positive way, this positive impact will also be felt in other areas of your life. Participate in this workshop and:

-Discover four key practices that can have a profoundly positive impact on your productivity in all areas of your life. A free PDF workbook & manual will be provided.

-Connect with other HIVE Members who are committed to personal excellence.

-Define an action to create a shift in a specific area of your life that will positive impact all areas of life.

7:00PM- HiVE Anniversary Party (Membership Appreciation Celebration)

Join us for a night in 19th century Paris for an Old French style Anniversary party to celebrate HiVE’s appreciation for its members. An assortment of French bakery, cocktails, dance, games, film and awards will have you trapped in a Renoir painting for a night. Innocuous Parisian-themed dress attire is encouraged, but casual coworking attire will not be turned away! There will also be a caricature artist at the side of the HiVE Seine waiting to sketch you. This event falls on Day 5 of Social Impact Week, and is open to the public.
