So, you know you should be using social media for your business, but you don't really know how to be effective with it!!

About this Event

How it works:

Who is this workshop for?

  • The small business owner who needs to try something new!
  • Your receptionist who currently does social media on the fly!
  • The board member who plans events!
  • A staff member who is responsible for social media!

Our ONLINE interactive workshop will take place from 12-4pm. During the course, you will create or update your social media while Tenille helps you each step of the way. Each section topic of the day will combine lectures/presentations with interactive tasks. Participants will work on their computers, tablets and phones during the course. By the end of the day, you'll have:

  • Facebook Business page (New, or made-over)
  • Instagram Business profile (New, or made-over)
  • One month of social media posts created and ready to post
  • Knowledge of how to continue managing and planning your social media, schedule posts, and condense your social media work into a manageable task each month.

What the workshop looks like:

1. Make or update your Facebook profile:

  • imagery
  • type of Facebook page
  • information/services/jobs/story
  • auto-response messages
  • contact information
  • events

2. Make or update your Instagram profile:

  • imagery
  • bio
  • highlights
  • information
  • contact information
  • connecting to Facebook

3. Build a following:

  • How to build an audience that will give you business, not just 'likes'
  • Strategies to gain followers organically (without paying)
  • Engaging and building a relationship with your audience

4. Planning your posts:

  • What are your goals by being on Instagram, and how can we reach them?
  • Who are you trying to appeal to, and how can we engage them?
  • How often should you be posting?
  • What kind of media will be most effective for you?
  • Set up guidelines for content and captions/verbiage (consistency)

5. Posting on Social Media

  • Creating content that matches your brand
  • Planning and scheduling social media every month
  • Where to legally get stock images/content for use
  • Tools and programs to help you create video and graphic posts
  • Making use of hashtags

Following registration, you will be provided with various programs you will need to connect to the workshop. You will not need to be tech savvy, but you will need a device with a camera.

Hey, I'm Tenille!

As the Social Media Manager at Sandfly, I run various accounts for all kinds of clients. From the service industry, to the medical industry, and even small businesses, I have an idea for EVERY kind of business or organization.

I run my own small business, so I understand how hard it can be to juggle administration tasks, performing your duties, having a private life AND making time post on social media. There's an epidemic right now, where business owners sometimes think their receptionists or administrators are able to properly perform social media managment duties. Contrary to popular belief, managing social media does require some skill! Good news for you, the basics are easy for most people to learn.

I can't wait to show you the RIGHT way to use your Instagram. Not only that, but we'll come up with a plan to make it effective! If you need more bookings, we'll get you more bookings. Need people coming into your cafe? I'll teach you how to target people in your area. Have a sale going? Let's get those numbers UP!

Plan on attending? Here's what you'll need to do to prepare. We ask that you do this prior to the workshop to ensure that all guests can start from the same place. If you haven't already:

  • get a personal Facebook account
  • download the Instagram app to your smartphone or tablet
  • register for a free trial of either Snappa, Canva, or Adobe Spark
