Join us for the October meeting of the Facilitator's Network of Waterloo Region: Social Media Safety and Privacy
This month we welcome Carolyn Keays from ACCKWA to help us look at how to be safe when using social media:
"Technology makes some things easier – we can catch up with friends and family on Facebook, follow our favourite celebrities on Twitter, listen to our favourite songs on YouTube, and use our phones to send text messages! And technology can also make things more difficult – what information is private? What do we do if someone is being inappropriate? How can we tell if this person is really our friend? This workshop will look at how to decide what information to share online, and what information should remain private. We will build a pretend Facebook profile, role play an online chat conversation, and outline when you might want to go to someone you trust for help."
About: The Facilitator's Network of Waterloo Region (FNWR) is a sharing network for Independent Facilitators, those who do related work, family members, self-advocates, and anyone interested in building a more inclusive community. The FNWR is a program of Bridges to Belonging.
