Event Information
About this Event
About the Presentation:
This presentation will focus both on a specific case study (led by a parent of 2 young autistic children), as well as additional thoughts generated by the idea of how connections/connectivity to ones learning can enhance a participant's productivity in becoming a more active learner and participant in their personal learning and growth.
General thoughts and ideas will be discussed as well as the steps and supports to work towards learner participation and engagement for both academic and social situations.
The age range of this discussion will highlight early elementary to later elementary years. We look forward to a healthy and energetic discussion and questions from our audience that pertain to general strategies.
About the Speaker:
Bohdanna Popowycz, BCBA
Bohdana has been working in the field of autism and unique learners since the late 80’s. Prior to that, while attending University she worked in group homes with adults ranging in ages from 19-70. This, and her work with early learners, has given her the ability to understand learning through the ages. Along with her own practice in BC, Bohdanna is committed to her team in Wyoming USA as well. There she works in small mountain areas, supporting a large school district where families and youth with little to no access to behavioural interventions. Bohdanna has worked and trained in the United States, Canada and the UK. She was integral in starting the charity Harmony House CARES (Centre for Autism and Research and Education Society) in 2006 along with two parent advocates. She lives in Vancouver with her youngest daughter and is proud of her two adult children in the workforce!
