Description

In partnership with University of Alberta's Faculty of Extension, Edmonton Opera presents a showcase of music to bring people together in the spirit of hope and reconciliation on Orange Shirt Day. The event includes:

  • Performances of opera arias, Cree songs, African folk music, and a fiddle group from Prince Charles School starting at noon.

  • A post-performance panel discussion about Orange Shirt Day, held annually to raise awareness about the impact of Indian Residential Schools on the Indigenous Peoples of Canada

  • Bannock and tea

  • Beading workshop from 11:30am-noon

  • A pop-up market by Indigenous artisans

  • Crafts table for kids and a photo booth

'Songs of Hope' is presented as part of Alberta Culture Days 2018.
