When & Where
Dogway Dog Rescue Society
Meet Bibbi Bibbles, the founder and CEO of Dogway Dog Rescue Society. Bibbi was dropped off at a high-kill shelter and was scheduled for euthanization. The shelter manager agreed to spare his life if Bibbi could live out his days at a rescue sanctuary.
I loved his joyful spirit, his fearless sense of adventure, his incredible curiosity, his unconditional loyalty and his immeasurable capacity for love.
Bibbi was my canine soulmate. Unfortunately, his tiny body had suffered much abuse prior to coming to Dogway and our vet was unable to save him. He was so young when he left us to cross the Rainbow Bridge, and we were grief-stricken.
While picking wild orchids to line Bibbi's grave, I was inspired to honour his memory with a lasting legacy and thus, four like-minded individuals joined me to create and incorporate Dogway Dog Rescue Society.
Our sanctuary welcomes the unwanted and heals the sick. Those dogs who cannot be healed will spend their final days in a comfortable, loving environment. Dogway provides each rescue dog in our sanctuary with the opportunity to be unconditionally loved so that they can learn to trust again.
Dogway: "The Road to Rescue"
At Dogway, we believe that dogs are sentient beings, capable of feeling "human" emotions such as fear, pain, joy, love and sorrow. Dogs provide their human companions with unconditional love and absolute loyalty and deserve to be treated as members of the family.
We advocate for the humane treatment of dogs worldwide. We believe that all dogs should be treated with kindness and respect.
SOME HORRIFYING STATISTICS:
6 MILLION dogs are killed every year in North America.
16,000 dogs are killed every day.
Every 11 seconds a dog dies in North America and...
over 70,000 dogs are born every day!
PLEASE BE PART OF THE SOLUTION ...
DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER DOGS DIE!
We rescue dogs scheduled for euthanization from all over British Columbia and Northern Canada. In addition, we are currently working with a high-kill shelter in an impoverished area of Los Angeles. 75% of the dogs that go into this shelter are killed for lack of homes.
We provide veterinary care for our rescue dogs, as well as behavioural modification when necessary. Only a portion of these expenses are covered by our adoption fees. The remainder are covered by our compassionate team of volunteers and public donations. Unlike several other animal rescue organizations, we have no paid staff. ALL members of our dedicated team generously donate their time and money to help our amazing dogs.
We welcome opportunities to work with other animal rescue organizations that share our vision.
