This event is open to all interested community members, including VIU faculty, staff and students.
This speaker’s series is held by Services for Aboriginal Students at Vancouver Island University and sponsored by various VIU departments. These talks are Tuesday over the lunch hour once a month in Shq’apthut – A Gathering Place and provide the opportunity for students, staff, faculty and community to expand their experience and awareness in current Indigenous topics and various aspects of Aboriginal Ways of Being and Knowing.
Dates: 2nd Tuesday of each month - September 2016 to April, 2017

This talk will explore de-constructing colonization in each of our lives - making space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians to dream a way forward which respects and reflects the diversity, strength and hope embodied within Indigenous traditions. A focus will be colonization’s mindsets which find expression in our collective culture and mindsets as well as the fundamental principles and ethics derived from Indigenous laws which shift and change this paradigm.
