About this Event

About Your Teacher, Neetu:

Neetu has a wealth of experience working in the bridal industry. Neetu attended Blanche Macdonald Center, and graduated at the top of her class with a Global Make-up Artistry Diploma. Wanting to share her knowledge and passion for the industry, she continues to teach South Asian make-up and hair for students at Vancouver Community College.

About The Class:

South Asian bridal is a lucrative business in Vancouver, making it a specific niche of the bridal industry which many artists are seeking to make their name in. While many covet for success in the South Asian market, they may not possess the specialized knowledge and skills to gracefully aid their bride through her big day. Learn the secrets, tips and techniques for a successful South Asian bridal hairstyle and dressing to ensure she gets through her long wedding day. The hairstyling component of this workshop will teach you how to create a stable, smooth updo which will support the weight of the dupatta and jewellery. Additional topics covered include dupatta setting and jewellery setting.

Students will learn:

• Thorough demonstration, a bridal updo which provides techniques that can be used to create many other bridal styles

• Techniques and methods of making the hairstyling process efficient, ensuring beautiful results every time.

• Students will follow the steps demonstrated on a model (or judy head) and be guided through each step

• Students will be assessed and provided feedback to help students perfect the method and techniques of hairstyle

• Adding hair extensions for bridal updo if client does not have enough hair

• Using hair fillers and donuts

• Securely pinning dupatta and various dupatta pinning styles

• Adding tikka, math paathi, nath and/or passa securely
