Summary:
Caregivers of people with dementia want to provide the best care possible. However, staff shortages, time constraints and responsive behaviours often challenge our attempts to deliver personal care. How can knowledge of brain and behaviour, as well as the diagnosis of dementia help with everyday care?
This session will give a brief overview of the anatomy and physiology of the brain, review several different types of dementia, and give practical case examples of how this can help front-line caregivers provide care on a daily basis.
