Southern-style with Chefs Phillips & Cowan, Blasted Church & Therapy Wines
Fri, 5 May 2017, 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM MDT
Northern Chicken brings “down south comfort food” to Edmonton with owners/chefs Matt Phillips and Andrew Cowan’s creative take on southern classics spun with a modern twist. Before Matt discovered his passion for cooking, he developed a passion for hip hop, jazz, classic rock, and drum and bass music. He took a job washing dishes at Joey Tomatoes on Jasper Avenue, and quickly rose through the ranks, working his way through kitchens in Edmonton, most recently as the Executive Chef of LUX Steakhouse + Bar. Andrew developed his appreciation for food while growing up in the small Ontario community of Caledon. He started out working as a dishwasher at a local golf course, where he worked his way up to a line cook position. Andrew eventually made his way to Edmonton where he has been a fixture in the Edmonton food scene for well over a decade, working in restaurants such as LUX Steakhouse, Hundred Bar and kitchen, Harts Table and Bar, Packrat Louie, and Workshop Eatery. He most recently took home silver at the 2015 Gold Medal Plates competition.
Join Matt & Andrew as they pair their modern take on southern style classics with the creatively inspired wines of Blasted Church featuring winemakers Elaine Vickers and Evan Saunders and Therapy Vineyards featuring winemaker Steven Latchford. Don’t miss this fun, irreverent and delicious evening.
