Spacecraft: Navigating Power and Profits in the New Space Age
Event Information
About this event
During the Cold War, our imaginations were captivated by outer space. The contest of wills to reach the moon underscored a struggle between superpowers. We were enthralled by the marvel of space travel and what it would mean for our lives here on earth. But then we changed the channel.
Today, after a period of public ambivalence, we are returning our focus to outer space – the newest economic and geopolitical arena. The impending struggle for information, resources, influence and leadership in areas like satellite communications, robotics, and AI will define our time.
How do we make sure that the vast potential of space is used for the good of humanity and not squandered in a growing competition for power and profits?
