The summit will build the skills to assist in taking action towards youth mental health. The Speak Your Mind summit is very fortune two have to young adults as keynotes speakers that will really be able to reach out to the younger generations.

Speakers:

Connor Crisp

Connor Crisp, a third-round draft of the Montreal Canadiens in 2014, played 17 games for the American Hockey League’s IceCaps over two seasons (2015-16, 2016-17), which him saw him plagued by concussion symptoms that sidelined him for long stretches. At the age of 24 Connor made the life changing decision to retire from hockey to focus on his own health. Connor has had to deal with side effects of suffering from so many major concussions as well as the underlying emotions of returning to his hometown of Alliston, Ont., and transitioning back into the community and finding life after hockey.

Gabby Daleman

Gabrielle Daleman will be the second keynote speakers. Gabrielle helped Canada win Gold in Figure Skating’s team summit at Pyeong Chang 2018. A year earlier, she was part of Canadian history at the 2017 World Championships where she won the Bronze Medal. The 21-year-old Gabrielle, from Newmarket, Ont., has battled with mental health issues including: anxiety, depression, eating disorders and ADHD. In October 2018, Gabrielle announced that she was withdrawing from training and competition to focus on her mental health. However, in December 2018, Gabrielle proclaimed that she intended to defend her national title at the 2019 Canadian Championships and was proud to show that she is fighting back hard from the darkest moments in her life.
