Description

In this 8-week program, students will strengthen their communication, presentation, and leadership skills. The Speaking for Success program will build a solid foundation of speaking skills and confidence. Students will learn how to organize their speeches and how to effectively use eye contact, body language, vocal variety, and visual aids.

Students should take this program if they want to: speak and present with clarity and confidence to convey their message, make better class presentations, organize their ideas and create a compelling argument, engage audiences in a variety of formats, including impromptu situations, and understand and demonstrate listening and leadership skills.

Students in this program will learn: to show passion for their subject matter as they connect with and engage audiences, leaving them with a memorable message, strategies for writing organized speeches that have a valuable impact on others, techniques for using voice, gestures, and visuals to impact audiences, and a variety of listening and leadership skills through active communication.

Students in this program will: develop and strengthen confidence in public speaking, know how to begin and end a presentation with impact, use their voice and body to be a more engaging speaker, improve important relationships through the development of interpersonal skills, easily speak and present ideas in a variety of formats for different situations, and show a willingness to take on new challenges to continue learning and growing.

When: Wednesdays, October 18 - December 6, 2017 from 7:30 - 9:00 pm
