Event Details

Join SIM-one for a special online presentation and discussion on the landmark National Council of States Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) National Simulation Study.

The presentation will be led by Study co-author Suzan Kardong-Edgren, Chair of Boise State University’s School of Nursing. Study co-author Pamela Jeffries, a Nursing Professor at Johns Hopkins University, will discuss the Study’s implications in the USA and at Johns Hopkins. Discussing the Canadian perspective will be Veronique Boscart, who serves as the CIHR/Schlegel Industrial Research Chair in Seniors Care for Colleges.

Originally presented at the NCSBN Annual Meeting in Chicago in August, the National Simulation Study has major implications for the future of Nursing education. The Study revealed that final-year clinical nursing courses—with up to 50% of the clinical placement time replaced by a simulation-based curriculum—were just as effective as traditional clinical placement courses at preparing students for work as a professional nurse.

The online presentation will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 12PM EST and will include a Q&A session and an interactive discussion period.
